Electro-Mechanical Servicing and Repairs
Aotea Electric Canterbury brings a wealth of expertise in servicing and repairing industrial electro-mechanical equipment. Our capabilities cover a wide range of machinery, including conveyors, mixers, wrappers, scrubbers, crushers, washers, saws, presses, profile cutters, hoists, and drives.
We specialise in guarding and machinery safety relay systems, utilising technologies like trapped-key interlocks, proximity sensors, light barriers, light curtains, key switches, and limit switches.
Our certified electrician technicians not only handle electrical components but also address mechanical aspects such as drive belts, belt alignment, drive chains, sprockets, gearboxes, oil seals, bearings, tension rollers, brakes, and lubrication.
Additionally, we have knowledge and experience in pneumatic and hydraulic systems, covering solenoid valves, cylinders, and offering support for complex hydraulic systems. We provide certified on-site welding services as needed.
Industrial Preventative Maintenance
Aotea Electric recognises the importance of keeping industrial plants and equipment operational. We provide fast and efficient service, including 24/7 breakdown support to the Christchurch and Canterbury region.
Our team excels in installing and diagnosing issues with PLC SCADA control systems. We design control wiring solutions to enhance functionality and can implement fault monitoring systems for critical systems, delivering text alarm notifications to site managers for swift response and damage prevention.
We offer electric motor and pump fault finding. We can advise on VSD motor speed drive installation or faults. We can also provide preventative maintenance plans to reduce the risk of down time from unwanted breakdowns.
Hazardous Areas
As part of our industrial electrical services, we specialise in designing, installing, maintaining, and inspecting electrical systems in high-risk flammable or explosive gas and dust environments. Our work adheres closely to the AS/NZS-60079 series of standards, ensuring a high standard of workmanship and safety.
From petrochemical storage facilities to aviation and paint mixing spray booths, we cover a wide range of industries, providing our customers with confidence that our work meets the stringent requirements of high-risk flammable areas. We also furnish the necessary electrical compliance documentation to ensure proof of compliance.
Non-compliance can expose a business and its owners to claims under the Occupational Health & Safety Act. Flammable materials include printing inks, thinners, paints, chemicals, petrol, and gas.
Thermal Imaging
With over a decade of experience and advanced FLIR cameras from the USA, Aotea Electric excels in Thermal Imaging Surveys. Our technology provides temperature-scale-enhanced images to identify hotspots, enabling non-invasive monitoring of operational equipment.
Our certified electrician thermographers have a keen eye for anomalies, detecting changes as small as 0.05°C. We deliver precise PDF reports, including periodic verification to AS/NZ 3019 for insurance requirements.
Beyond electrical equipment, our services cover cool stores, insulation assessment, water damage detection, and more. Thermal Imaging is a cost-effective preventative maintenance tool, meeting insurance standards and detecting issues like motor problems, hot fuses, and building heat loss.
Industrial Test & Tag
New Zealand electrical safety regulations require regular inspections and testing of specific electrical equipment to ensure safety. This not only fulfills legal requirements but also prioritizes safety in today’s world. Regular inspections, testing, and tagging of ‘plug-in’ electrical equipment help identify and address damaged or unsafe items before they pose serious risks to employees or damage business premises.
What’s Tested & Tagged?
This applies to all electrical equipment connected to the electrical supply via a flexible cord or connecting device, including equipment in service, serviced or repaired, returning from second-hand sales, or available for hire. Inspection intervals depend on the equipment’s usage environment.
We provide a comprehensive Test & Tag service, including:
-
- A register of your electrical equipment.
- Records of formal inspections and tests.
- A repair register.
- Records of faulty equipment with details of services or corrective actions.
