Papanui Library IT & Electrical Upgrades

The Papanui Library closed for six weeks in 2022 as part of the Christchurch City Council’s (CCC) 10-year refurbishment programme for its libraries. Aotea Electric Canterbury was proud to be part of the Papanui Library refurbishment, providing IT and electrical upgrades.

The Aotea Communications and Aotea Servicing departments joined forces on this project. Upgrades to IT and electrical services throughout the Papanui Library and Service Centre were successfully carried out to accommodate new layouts, as part of the Citycare refresh project.

Work on the library floor, staff rooms, meeting room and board rooms included many new data outlets, and new power sockets with many relocated or disconnected; Central Public Computer Stations had power outlets relocated and upgraded. It has been an extensive reconfiguration of the facility.

Jan Buschi from the Aotea Servicing team has worked alongside John, to assist with the electrical changes. It was essential to include the CCC Facilities team in the design process to ensure the fit-out changes reflected the end users’ requirements. The result is a modern, upgraded, high-spec library that the community can enjoy for many years.
